PORTRAIT

Froidfond is situated on the border of the old provinces of "Poitou" and Brittany, which are actually divided by the river of "Falleron".
The town name was formerly "Froidefond" (cold bottom) in view of the many springs in this small valley with very heavy ground.
Some land in Froidfond depends of the old command of Coudrie, which will be explained in the Challans' presentation. A part of the territory was under guardianship of the Lord of "Ferroniere". This feudal land, located at the north of the municipality was formerly Gilles De Rais' property.
